The Registered Play Therapist credential is granted by the Association for Play Therapy (APT), an international organization supporting the field of play therapy. As per their website, APT defines play therapy as “the systematic use of a theoretical model to establish an interpersonal process wherein trained play therapists use the therapeutic powers of play to help clients prevent or resolve psychosocial difficulties and achieve optimal growth and development.”
Current credentialing standards require applicants to complete 150 hours of play therapy-specific education from APT-approved providers and complete direct contact play therapy experience under the supervision or consultation of a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor play therapy supervision.
Dr, Turner provides individual and group supervision for the Registered Play Therapist credential with a focus on supporting individuals in the accusation and integration of Gestalt Play Therapy.
