Course Description:

Superhero play naturally emerges in the context of play therapy. Affiliated with power/control, mastery, and rescue play themes, superhero play offers powerful opportunities for healing and integration. In this highly experiential playshop, participants will learn how to transform this everyday play into creative play interventions that deepen the process of play therapy. Participants will engage in integrative activities aimed at empowering children using a combination of drama, art, narrative, and other creative expression interventions. Join the fun and dress as your favorite hero! (The winner will receive a prize!)

Learning Objectives:

1. Describe the role of superhero play in healing for children
2. Identify the clinical application of superhero play across developmental stages and presenting issues
3. Identify play themes associated with superhero play 
4. Discuss superhero play through the lens of “parts” work 
5. Identify and practice embodiment techniques to empower children and integrate “parts”
6. Apply at least three creative interventions using superheroes in play therapy

Attendance & Return policy:

• Registrants must attend and participate in all portions of the workshop to earn credit. Partial credit cannot be awarded
• Registrants must have or be in pursuit of a Master’s degree in mental health or a related field to qualify for CEs
• Cancellation received at least 14 days before a scheduled workshop will be fully refunded minus a $50.00 administrative fee.
• Cancellation received less than 14 days prior to a scheduled workshop is not eligible for a refund or credit
• No refund is provided for no-shows or missed workshops
• With approval, you may send another attendee in your place
• Should Expressive Therapies Institute, PLLC need to cancel a training, we will make every attempt to notify paid registrants in a timely manner. All paid registrants will receive a full refund. Expressive Therapies Institute, PLLC, is only responsible for the registration costs of training. Any additional costs are the responsibility of the registrant
