Course Description: Therapeutic drawing is a fun and interactive method to engage children in play therapy. This highly experiential workshop will explore a range of therapeutic techniques for children and families, combining therapeutic drawing, collaborative storytelling, and embodiment. Working primarily from a Gestalt perspective, participants will identify drawing engagements specific to Gestalt Play Therapy and apply a Gestalt focus to commonly used therapeutic drawing interventions (e.g., Kinetic Family Drawing). However, attendees from all theoretical orientations will benefit from this workshop. Participants will also explore the ethical considerations for therapeutic drawing and identify ways to balance directive engagements within the therapeutic relationship.
